Matt, hypercard also has a place in my memories - in my first exposure to personal computing in 1989 at Melb Uni we were on Mac SEs (or was is SE IIs?) at Creswick, and Hypercard was a big part of the whole experience that year, and was most likely formative in terms of understanding interactive experiences. Your curriculum mapping tool looks great!

Melbourne has been one of the most vibrant cities for music in the English speaking world, and is known far beyond Australia's borders for its cultural vibrancy - does the Victorian government want to throw this all away? It would be a damn shame. What's next, a return to the "six o'clock swill"?

Congrats on getting back home at last! I've been reading regularly, but I'm as hopeless about leaving comments as I am about e-mailing... ;) I just wanted to say hi, & I hope you're both getting settled back in Melbourne now! I hope "home" actually feels like home again -- I always find switching between countries terribly disorienting, especially when you leap from the depths of winter into the height of an Australian summer.

Business class is certainly the way to go though, huh? When we flew to Aus in 2003, we went on frequent flyer miles, and it ended up being "cheaper" to fly business class than to fly coach! Amazing -- I never knew it could be that comfortable to fly, and like you, I found myself thinking "It gets BETTER than this??" I'm so glad you were able to return home in such style! ;)

Astrid. :)

All the very best to both of you - but we will miss you this side of the world! So do keep in touch and get publishing all the good stuff you've done on learner experience research! ;-)

That is a *totally* awesome photo (I'm awed!), and an excellent story about your trip home. Congratulations on the fabulous good luck, and on your upcoming nuptials! ;)

[...] Matt and Lotte are leaving Cambridge. They were among the most eloquent teachers I’ve had the good fortunate to study with, and I only wish I’d been able to spend more time with them. Watching them dance at their leaving party, which I left not long ago, was an opportunity to see perfect articulation in body language. As Lotte shared one last dance with each of the folks who had come to The Snug on this chilly evening, her movements expressed not only her usual joie de vivre, but also a sadness to be leaving behind so many friends and dance partners, and a nervous excitement to be jetting off for a new life on the other side of the world.
